I am Civitan... Won't you be too? We are currently seeking new members!!!

The mission of Civitan worldwide is to build good citizenship by providing a volunteer organization of clubs dedicated to serving individual and community needs with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities.  Civitan of Lenawee is looking to build upon their current membership with some new, enthusiastic people.  If you enjoy volunteering in your community we have some great service projects for you to get involved in!  We hold weekly meetings at the HOPE Community Center located at 431 Baker St. in Adrian.  These meetings are held every Wednesday at noon and lunch is provided--please enter through the side entrance.  For more information please email civitanoflenawee@gmail.com

Throughout the year our club is involved with many community service projects.  Many of those projects involve the HOPE Center and their members and include a Valentine's Day Dance, carving pumpkins for Halloween, making candy apples in the Fall, and taking them to do their Christmas shopping.  We also ring bells for the Salvation Army, pack food boxes for Associated Charities at Christmas, and take part in the Adopt-a-Highway program.  But, our biggest project is always hosting the Area 29 Special Olympics in May.  Civitan has hosted the local Special Olympic Games at Adrian College for nearly 30 years.  It requires months of planning and many dedicated volunteers. but is one of the most fun and rewarding activites to take part in!!!

Please consider joining our great organization.  Attendance at weekly meetings is never mandatory and you may pick and choose the events you are most interested in.  Some members volunteer at one and some volunteer at many, but every one is VERY appreciated!  We are especially interested in recruting  younger members and their families at this time as some of our veteran members are not as able to participate as actively now.
